If you are a parent, either mom or dad, you want to give the best things to your child. What if he/she asks you to buy a dog? What would you choose?

When you decide to get a dog or adopt one, you shouldn’t ignore the size of your apartment or home. But this can be ignored when getting a dog for your child.

Should you get a big dog or a small dog? Will a big dog behave properly in contact with your child? What is the best dog breed for a child? Will he be suited in your lifestyle?

These are some questions you need to answer to yourself. Most small dog breeds make the cutest puppies, and they don’t grow so much in weight. Small puppies are a great responsibility: they require more time for training, grooming, feeding and more play time. Small dogs are really fragile in comparison with big dogs breeds.

Let’s take an example. You decide to get a spaniel from the Cavalier King Charles breed. It might be your best decision. This breed is really friendly and sociable, quiet and loyal. He will behave really nice in contact with your child.

Another great example of small dog breed is the Maltese. He is fit with a strong constitution and has a thick white coat. He is very playful and agile, a great companion for your walks. His coat is an enjoyment when grooming.

Other interesting choices are: the fox terriers, the Lowchen (rather expensive), the Italian greyhounds, the toy poodle, the Welsh corgi. Their body weight will differ and some of them should get some obedience schooling.

These small dog breeds are really popular amongst dog lovers nowadays and are best fit for loving families. Some of them require more exercise, others love to stay indoor. Because some of them have long coat, the grooming process can be a priority. They love to play with toys and they enjoy the human company, but be sure not to spend long time away from them.
