The Chow Chow breed has its origins in Mongolia, around 4,000 years ago. This breed was introduced in China, being used as a temple guard dog and hunter, herder. The massive body stature gave their name of Chinese guardian lion. The Chow got popular in America after 1920, being owned by many rich people of that time.

It is said that the Bulldog name has its origins in the middle 16th century. Also named British Bulldog or English Bulldog, this breed was used in bearbaiting or bullbaiting events, where they were let lose on a bull or bear, in order to suffocate it. Later on, these sporting events became illegal and eventually stopped existing. The Bulldog breed is considered to be a cross between the pug and the mastiff. It is nowadays considered as the official mascot of England.

The Brittany breed (also named Brittany Spaniel, Epagneul Breton, Brittany Wiegref, Brittany Pointer, American Brittany) has its origins in the region of France, in the late 19th century. It was mainly used as a bird hunting dog and it is sometimes seen in dog competitions. There is a differentiation between the French style Brittany and the American style ones (the French ones are similar to the smaller spaniels, while the American Brittany is faster and a bit taller).
